Joanne Williamson

Head of News Planning

Joanne has been an advocate for public interest journalism and straight, unbiased reporting for three decades. She was a senior editor at newswire, Australian Associated Press, for more than 25 years. But before that, was a reporter at the Northern Miner in Charters Towers in northern Queensland and the Central Western Daily in Orange, NSW. It’s there that she realised how important it was to provide a good news service to regional Australians and continued that ideal at AAP. It’s also one of the key reasons she has joined News.Net and will be part of the team driving the news service. She also has done a fellowship in Constructive Journalism and will continue to promote that in the stories News.Net produces for all our readers.
